- The Declaration of Independence was written at the Second Continental Congress
- It was a statement, written by Thomas Jefferson, declaring America's independence from Britain.
- The Declaration of Independence took two days to write and was approved by congress on July 4, 1776.
- Not all members of the congress were ready to be free from Britain, but those who signed it were breaking British law.
